Will Clifton, MD

Will Clifton, MD, is a life science entrepreneur and bioengineer with a background in medical devices and innovation. After earning his MD, Dr. Clifton served as Senior Director of Medical Affairs at Procyrion, where he spent seven years developing a minimally invasive pump to treat heart failure, taking it from concept through a successful first in human trial. Dr. Clifton’s research led to one issued and one pending patent, multiple peer-reviewed publications, and an upcoming multi-continent pivotal study. Dr. Clifton graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California where he developed a percutaneous implantable glucose sensor. Will graduated medical school from Baylor College of Medicine where he continued to study medical technology with a focus in Minimally Invasive Surgical Technology with mentorship from Dr. William Cohn of the Texas Heart Institute. During medical school, Will received grant funding for a one-year Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship to study hearing loss and novel cochlear implant technology. Dr. Clifton is the founder of Enventure, a non-profit organization providing consulting, education, and experiential learning opportunities to Houston students and medical innovators. Through Enventure, Dr. Clifton has hosted and lectured many medical technology courses at Rice, BCM, and the Texas Medical Center. Dr. Clifton has consulted for numerous medical device and digital health startups, developing clinical and regulatory strategies, FDA submissions, and R&D strategies.

Event Description

Join us for the Biodesign Workshops to learn the fundamentals of life-science entrepreneurship, understand the driving forces behind innovation, and how an idea becomes a marketable product.

You can register to single lectures or to the whole series.

Those attending all 7 workshops will receive a certificate to acknowledge their participation. Workshops are on every other Tuesday from 6-8 pm. We can't wait to see you there!
