Bioventures is an opportunity for trainees (those pursuing PhDs, MDs, residency, post-docs, MBAs, undergraduates etc.) engage in a hands on entrepreneurship experience by turning their life science/biotech/medtech ideas into a refined investor pitch deck. The program combines lecture based learning with weekly pitch practice and feedback sessions.
Bioventures alumni have developed 8 companies in the program and have founded 5 other companies after participation. Prior areas of focus include diagnostics, therapeutics, medical devices, and direct to consumer life science products. Collectively alumni have raised $5M+ and have participated in incubators/accelerators including Y Combinator, Mass Challenge, Station Houston, JLABS, and TMCx.
Prior participants have joined us from Rice, BCM, UTMB, Lamar, UT Health, TAMU, UH, MD Anderson, etc. Trainees must be willing to commit 10+ hours per week from Jan 9 – Apr 9 to participate in the program.
